(From the Joplin Fire Department)At approximately 10:32 this morning, Joplin 911 received reports of smoke coming from a residence located near 19th and Murphy Ave.
First arriving units found a two-story residential structure with smoke coming from all levels of the home. Firefighters initiated a search for potential victims and an attack on the fire. The main body of the fire was located in the basement of the structure and no one was at home at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished without any injuries.
The Joplin Fire Marshal has ruled this fire as accidental as a result of combustible materials next to an open heat source. JFD was assisted by Metro Emergency Transport System and the Joplin Police Department.
