(From KGCS)A park improvement plan is coming to fruition in Carthage, Missouri and a unique partnership with Eagle Scouts provides added benefits. This week on Newsmakers, viewers will learn about new playground equipment at five Carthage parks purchased with grant funds from the McCune Brooks Hospital Trust. Parks and Recreation Director Abi Almandinger discusses the various playground designs, their accessibility and the addition of new bathrooms at the parks.
The program also features a video segment with Walker Lasley, who worked with the parks department for his Eagle Scout project. Lasley sought grant funds to purchase equipment for the new dog park and coordinated the assembly.
The canine playground equipment includes a ramp, tunnel, grooming table and jumping bars. Becoming an Eagle Scout is a family tradition for the Lasleys and Walkers grandfather, Bill Putnam talks about the benefits.
