(From the Pittsburg Police Department)On Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department responded to Southwind Cycle and Outdoor, located at 511 N. Broadway St., in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a burglary. The reporting party advised the door to the business had been forcibly damaged, and several items of property were stolen, including bicycles and electronics.
On Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024, at approximately 11:13 AM, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of North Broadway St. in reference to the Southwind Cycle and Outdoors owner locating some of his stolen property. The reporting party identified one of the business’s bicycles, valued at $3,550, being ridden by a male suspect in red sweatpants.
Officers responded to the area and located the bicycle parked at a nearby business, and the bicycle was confirmed to be stolen property. Shortly thereafter, officers located the suspect in red sweatpants walking a few blocks away.
The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Dwayne William Munger, of Pittsburg, who was taken into custody. A subsequent search of Mr. Munger’s residence resulted in more items of stolen property being located and recovered. Additionally, stolen electronics and tools from other various cases reported in Pittsburg were located and collected from the residence. The investigation into those other cases is ongoing.
Mr. Munger was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail for booking. Charges are being sought for Felony Possession of Stolen Property stemming from the stolen bicycle. Mr. Munger is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.
