Jasper man arrested for domestic assault, assaulting an officer

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at 6:11 pm, Jasper PD was dispatched to an address on North 3rd St., Jasper, Mo, in reference to domestic assault.

After arriving on scene, it was learned a male had physically assaulted a female, both live at the residence and the suspect, Job Mayes (Jasper) had left the residence on foot.

During a search of the area for Job, Jasper PD Sgt. Ashby located him walking on S. 4th St. Upon contact, Job became physically violent with Sgt. Ashby, punching at her, kicking at her and tried to bite her. Taser deployment was unsuccessful.

Two Jasper citizens, Jack Maggard and Rob Curtis observed the assault on Sgt. Ashby and assisted in apprehending Mayes and restraining him.

Mayes was transported to Freeman Health Center to be treated for injuries he had sustained. Sgt. Ashby also recieved injuries and was treated. Both good samaritans suffered minor bumps and bruises and did not need medical treatment.

Big thanks to Jack and Rob for coming to the aid of an officer attacked cowardly.

Mayes faces charges for domestic assault, assault on law enforcement and assault on the good samaritans as well as resisting arrest.

Job Mayes is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. Glad there were some men there to stop it. Now we know where the female SS agent is working know

  2. Agreed, this isn't the first time she's taken a beatdown. "Taser deployment was unsuccessful", surprised she didn't tase herself. What business does a 50 yr. old female have serving as a patrol officer? What kind of Chief would put her out there alone, is a better question? I've noticed there are a few clown Chiefs around here who value their own comedic writing ability more than their officers or citizens.
