City of Joplin seeking feedback on Ewert Splash Park design

(From the City of Joplin)

The City of Joplin is in the process of finalizing the design for a revitalized Ewert Park. Community input is a critical part of this process.

The City encourages citizens of all ages to attend a public open house on Tuesday, September 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Joplin History and Mineral Museum (504 S Schifferdecker Ave, Joplin, MO 64801) to view the latest design plans and share your feedback. City staff members and project team members will be in attendance to talk about the designs and answer any questions you may have.

The Ewert Park revitalization effort is being funded through the voter-approved renewal of the ¼-cent Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax. Since the closure of the aquatic center, citizens have expressed interest in utilizing the space in new and dynamic ways.

This revitalization effort is focused on what we’ve heard from neighborhood stakeholders and the development of Ewert Splash Park, a state-of-the-art seasonal park that will be the first aquatic amenity of its kind in the community. Its features will be utilized in both the summer and winter seasons and includes a splash park, a 12-foot wide ice ribbon, dry play areas, updated shade structures and seating, landscaping, and improvements to the current bathhouse building for year-round activities.

Revitalization efforts are aimed at providing a community gathering space with quality amenities that will last the test of time.

  1. Will they be installing privacy screens to block the view of the leering homeless dudes ogling the kids in bathing suits? Or maybe some soap dispensers for their after-hours bathing?
