Kickoff held for MSSU's Global Entrepreneurship Week

(From Southern News Service)

A ribbon-cutting was held at 10 a.m. this morning in the atrium of Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall to announce that the HR program at Missouri  Southern State University has aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management’s educational focus.
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently announced that the university’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management with Human Resource Management Emphasis degree fully aligns with the organization’s “HR Curriculum and Guidebook Templates.”

“Dr. Nanette Philibert, Dr. John Groesbeck and Megan Douglas have been working on getting us aligned with SHRM and just receive notification last week,” said Sherry Noller, research associate for the Small Business and Technology Development Center.
The event will also observe the Center for Entrepreneurship’s kick-off for Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Five days of activities are planned, including:
“Aspiring Student Entrepreneurs – The First Steps”: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Room 102 of Plaster.
“How to Write a Successful Business Plan”: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Room 108 of Plaster.
“Tax Planning – Getting the Most Out of Every Dollar”: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Room 102 of Plaster.
LinkedIn seminar: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in Cornell Auditorium.
WiseApp entrepreneur Les Olson: 9 and 10 a.m. in Cornell Auditorium.
“Les launched the app ‘Furballs’ earlier this year,” said Noller. “He wasn’t a CIS major, but accounting. He had this idea and worked with an entrepreneur in Bulgaria to put it together.”
