Barton County Sheriff's Office Report

Runaway juvenile located

On July 6th 2017 the Barton County Dispatch was told about a 15 year of age minor who had ran away from his residence in the southeast part of the county. 

Deputies responded to the area and located the runaway. The child was transported back to the Barton County Jail where the Juvenile Officer was contacted. The Juvenile Officer advised to return the juvenile back to the parents.

Counterfeit money in Mindenmines

On Thursday 07/06/17, a deputy was dispatched to the Bank of Minden at 601 Main, Mindenmines MO in reference to a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill. 

 It was stated the counterfeit bill came from the Liberal branch of the Bank of Minden. A customer brought by the hundred dollar bill to verify if it was legal tender. 

 The branch verified that it was not and in fact was counterfeit. The bank did some research on the markings and found out that it is a novelty bill sold overseas that can be purchased online at a very, very low cost.

Webb City man turns himself in on outstanding warrant

On July 5th 2017, a male subject came to the Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in on an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The individual a Terry G. Harless, 48 of Webb City Missouri was placed into the booking area of the Sheriff’s Office. Harless was not able to post bond on the warrant and he was processed into the jail. He was given the next available court date.

Shoplifting reported at Casey's in Liberal

On July 4 2017, a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Casey’s store in Liberal in reference to a customer who had allegedly shoplifted. 

A second customer in the store told the clerk working that she believed that two minors in the store had left without paying for items that they had picked up. At this time video footage is still being looked at and the parties responsible in the theft of the candy will be interviewed at a later date. At this time a informational report has been taken on the shoplifting incident.

Frontenac woman issued summons for driving while suspended

On July 3, 2014 a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s office observed a silver in color vehicle cross the middle lane divider on the roadway on 160 Highway. 

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for failure to stay in its lane whenever the deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Tamara L. Draper, aged 42, of Frontenac Kansas. 

During a routine check of Draper’s driver’s license it was found that her driver’s license was suspended. The deputy issued her a criminal citation for operating a motor vehicle while her driver’s license was suspended.

Assault reported at party in northeast part of county

On July 3, 2017 a male subject came to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office to make a complaint of an assault that occurred over the weekend at a large party or gathering out in the county on Northeast 20th Road west of A highway. 

The subject filled out a statement form on what occurred when he was struck in the face. The victim in the case left from the gathering and went to a hospital and got medical treatment. The suspect in the case has already been interviewed about the incident, and at this point an informational report has been taken on the events of that evening.

Lamar man arrested on outstanding warrants

On July 2, 2017, a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office served an inmate wh0 was already incarcerated at the Barton County Jail with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. 

Philip G. Boyd, 51, of Lamar had an outstanding warrant for traffic violations. He was given a court date and then put back in his jail cell.
