Crowder College and Empire District Electric Company signed an agreement to install an electric car charging station at its Neosho campus.

“I want to express my appreciation to our colleagues at Empire District Electric for this remarkable partnership. As the home of the Missouri Alternative and Renewable Energy Technology (MARET) Center, Crowder College is pleased to host the first elective vehicle charging station in Neosho. The charging station will greatly enhance our work to promote renewable and alternative energy awareness and education,” stated Dr. Jennifer Methvin, President, Crowder College.

The charging station is being installed as part of Empire’s electric vehicle incentive program. EVOLVe is an initiative to encourage broader adoption of clean, efficient electric vehicles. The initiative includes rebate incentives, educational outreach, and increased availability of EV charging stations within the Empire District Electric Company service area.

“Utilizing electric vehicles makes sense – both environmentally and economically,” explains Brent Baker, Vice President of Customer Experience at Empire. “As a leader in energy technology education, the Crowder College campus is a great fit for an EV charging station.”

The charging station will be part of the ChargePoint EV charging network. ChargePoint operates the world’s largest and most open EV network. For more information, or to download the free mobile app, visit www.chargepoint.com. To learn more about the EVOLVe program, visit www.evolvewithempire.com.
