Crowder College receives grant to provide training for firefighters

(From Crowder College)

Crowder College was awarded $30,980 in grant funds from the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, Fire Education Advisory Commission to collaborate with southwest Missouri fire departments to provide much needed training for regional fire fighters. The grant-offered training makes it possible for area fire fighters to hold classes locally. Crowder College is partnering with the Ozark Gateway Fire Chiefs Association to provide training at various locations within the 9-county service region and at times most convenient to the fire fighters. Crowder College has met with fire fighter leadership in our 9-county region fire who have urged the college to pursue this contract as there is a great need for training in our area.

Upcoming courses include Advanced SCBA; Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator: Core; Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator: Pumper; and Fire Instructor I. For the first time ever, Rope Rescue: Core is being offered through the grant as well as Fire Fighter I and II.

“Over the last few years, the Crowder College Fire Science Program has been honored to work with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety on several fire service training projects. With the current grant award, we are excited to partner with both the Division and the Ozark Gateway Fire Chiefs Association to provide high quality training to Missouri firefighters,” stated Shane Anderson, Fire Science Instructor.

These free training opportunities are provided by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety – Fire Education/Advisory Commission. Anyone interested in this training provided under the grant should contact Crowder College in Cassville at 417.847.1706 or email: Cassville@Crowder.edu
