Joplin man injured when car goes airborne, strikes utility pole

A Joplin man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 12:35 p.m. today on MO 66, one mile west of Duenweg.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Hyundai Sonata driven by William D. Johnson, 43, Joplin, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and became airborne, then struck the ground and a utility pole.

Johnson was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
