Jasper Police traffic stop leads to arrest of Carthage man for meth trafficking

On Monday, December 2nd, 2019 at 1254 hours, a Jasper PD officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of 6th St. and Mercer St., Jasper, Missouri, on a tan Chevrolet truck.

While walking up to the vehicle, the officer observed the front passenger grab something quickly from the dash and the started moving around in the vehicle.

Contact with the driver, Robert Meisenheimer (Nevada), the front passenger, George Erwin (Carthage), and the back passenger, Tasha Newman (Temporarily Jasper but now Carthage).








The officer asked Erwin to step out of the vehicle. The officer then seen Erwin grab an item from between his legs and quickly reach to his right. It appeared he was trying to hide something. As he opened the door, a glass pipe with a white powder residue dropped onto the ground.

A search of Erwin's person and pockets was conducted. The following was found:

•A small clear plastic baggy with about 1.5 grams of a white crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine was found in his pant pocket.

•A yellow sandwich baggy with about 16 grams of a white crystal substance believe to be methamphetamine was found in his shorts pocket which he was wearing under his pants.

In the truck, the following was located:

*Electronic weighing scale. (Found on the front passenger side floorboard).

Erwin was arrested and held for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Note: Erwin is presumed innocent until found guilty in the court of law.
