Two people, including pedestrian, injured in collision on I-44 in Joplin


Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 5:39 p.m. Saturday at the one mile marker on I-44 in Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2018 Dodge Charger came to a stop in the left lane. After a passenger, Aaron M. Gibe, 30, Vinita, Oklahoma, exited the car, a 2020 Ford Explorer driven by Tommy R. Morris, 52, Springfield, struck the Dodge Charger, then hit Gibe.







The Morris vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a cable barrier.

Gibe was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

Morris was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
