The student-produced media of Crowder College, the Crowder Sentry, recently won “Best Missouri Community College Newspaper” in a contest co-sponsored by the Missouri Press Association and the Missouri College Media Association.

Students also won awards in multimedia, video, and graphic design, which are aligned to the new Digital Media Marketing certificate's learning outcomes.

The course in which students produce the Sentry, DIGM 102 Content Creation, is a 3-credit-hour class offered in the fall that teaches the basics of creating content for media, including social media and long-form blog posts, photography, video and podcasts.

Crowder will offer other communication-related courses this fall: Intro. to Public Relations and Digital Marketing, Intro. to Graphics Software (Adobe Illustrator), Photocommunication, and Intro. to Human Communication. Classes begin Aug. 21.

Crowder also offers both a certificate and associate degree in photography.
