(From KGCS)Red kettles are a symbol of the holiday season of giving going into full swing. This week on Newsmakers, Salvation Army Captain Deb Middendorp explains how the red kettle campaign supports the charity’s efforts to feed and aid the community all year long.
Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator Nathan Hicks tells us how easy it is to sign up to ring the bell at a red kettle location through the website registertoring.com as well as how to be a helper during Christmas gift distributions or holiday dinners attended by hundreds of people.
Debra Gaskill, Salvation Army Social Services Case Worker explains the level of need in the community this season and how the Angel Tree Program can help. Casey’s General Store General Manager Michael Snearley discusses how stores will host Angel Trees this year to support the season of giving.
This Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of November 12 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.
