Jasper County Sheriff: Sarcoxie man's gunshot wound was self-inflicted, accidental

9-12-2018, after further investigation, it has been determined that this incident was an accidental, self inflicted gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as Andrew C. Scolley, 38, of Sarcoxie, Mo.
Further investigation is ongoing at this time.

On 9-9-2018, at approximately 10:36 P.M., Jasper County Deputies responded to an address in Sarcoxie, Mo., in reference to a male being shot in the arm.

The 38-year old male victim said he had heard a noise coming from outside of his residence near his chicken coop and when he went to see what was going on, he was shot in the right arm by an unknown person.


The male was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Sarcoxie Police Department with this investigation. During the investigation a handgun was found near the location of the shooting.
