Pre-trial hearings for a man and woman charged with abandoning a corpse are scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, before Judge Gregory Stremel in Newton County Circuit Court.
Chelsie Barry, 24, Carl Junction, and Jared Prier, 29, Joplin, were arrested after a picture of them posing with the body of Dennis "Nathan" Meyer was posted on Facebook.
Barry told police she did not seek help for Meyer because she was high on meth and was afraid she would get into trouble.
Both Barry and Prier are being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Prier is also charged with the felony of tampering with a vehicle in Jasper County.
Both Prier and Meyer are connected to the Joplin Honkies, a gang that has been involved with a series of crimes over the past several years in Jasper and Newton counties, according to authorities.
