Joplin man treated for smoke inhalation after fire on Silver Creek Drive

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 3518 Silvercreek Drive, Joplin, at 1:54 PM on Tuesday, 30 September, 2014. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 2:01 PM to find a wood framed residential dwelling fully engulfed by flame and smoke. A second alarm was immediately requested. Crews established a defensive perimeter to protect the nearby houses and then proceeded to extinguish the house fire. 

The lone occupant and owner, Mr. Don Borusheski, was reportedly outside of the structure at the time of the discovery of the fire. Crews remain on scene at this time.

Five fire units and 19 Firefighters responded to the scene, as well as JPD and NCAD. Mr. Borusheski was transported by Newton County Ambulance for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
