The Joplin Police Department was able to develop two potential suspects involved with the homicide and after working on leads that had come into the police department, we were able to obtain arrest warrants for these two suspects.

Arrest Warrants for Murder 2nd Degree (RSMO 565.021—Class A Felony) were issued for Anthony M. Carter a 21 year old male from Joplin and for Kristopher M. Smith a 27 year old male from Joplin. There is no bond on these warrants.

On September 10, 2014, Mr. Smith was arrested in Kansas City, MO by the Kansas City MO Police Department. He remains in custody in Kansas City at this time.
