Six DWI arrests made at Joplin checkpoint Saturday

On September 13th, 2014, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Missouri State Highway
Patrol, and the Southwest Missouri DWI Task force held a DWI Checkpoint at 7th and Tri-State Rd. just west of Joplin, Missouri.

There were 673 cars contacted at the check point, with six DWI arrests, one driving under the influence of drugs arrest, three Possession of narcotics arrests, four endangering the welfare of a child cases, one unlawful use of a weapon. There were also two drivers cited for driving while revoked or suspended, and an additional 23 citations issued for seat belt, child restraint, no proof of insurance, and related traffic issues.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Southwest Missouri DWI
Taskforce are dedicated to promoting safety upon the highways, and removing impaired drivers from
the road, to keep the citizens safe, while traveling on Missouri roadways.
The Southwest Missouri DWI Taskforce consists of officers from the following agencies:

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Joplin Police Dept., Webb City Police Dept., Sarcoxie Police Dept.
Jasper Police Dept., Lamar Police Dept., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Carterville Police Dept.
Carthage Police Dept., and METS ambulance.
