A hit-and-run driver killed a pedestrian 1:18 a.m. today on I49 at the 58.2 mile marker at Carthage.
According to the Highway Patrol report, the vehicle struck Micaela A. Abernathy, 31, Leesburg, Florida, who was in the roadway and kept going.
Abernathy was pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Deputy Coroner George Woodward.
The fatality was the 10th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
