Joplin Fire Department rescues two from burning house

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3804 E College View Dr. Apt. 3 at 2:14 AM, Wednesday, 11 February. Fire crews arrived on scene at 2:21 AM to find an 8-Plex apartment complex with heavy smoke coming from one of the first floor apartments. Upon arrival crews were told that the occupant of the apartment was still inside. Crews made entry to the apartment where the victim was located and removed. Two rescues were also made from the two second story apartments directly above the fire. Two people were transported to a local hospital, one in critical condition. The fire was declared under control at 2:37 AM. The structure sustained moderate smoke, heat and water damage as a result of the fire. The owner of the apartment complex is listed as Woodrow Frill.

There were no injuries to firefighting crews.

The fire department responded to the structure fire with six apparatus and 18 personnel.

At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Joplin Fire Marshal.
