Three new exhibits on display at Carl Junction Community Center

The Carl Junction Community Center has three new exhibits on display in the month of February. The Carl Junction Community Center is located at 303 N. Main, and is open seven days a week.

EXHIBIT #1
An all new art exhibit, featuring the works of Paul Giltner, has been hung in the Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce office, located inside the Community Center. The display by Paula Giltner features scenes from her homeland, Colorado and one of her favorite places, Yellowstone. Animals and flowers are always favorite subjects. Here, Paula has employed 4 different mediums for different effects including oil, watercolor, ink, and pyrography (burnt paper).

Paula Giltner, of Joplin, MO has been creating art professionally for 35 years. She began here career illustrating a picture Bible series for College Press Publishing Co. in Joplin. Later she was trained and worked in architectural illustration and design primarily for churches. For the last 15 years, Paula has been creating art at Ozark Christian College as artist-in-residence, enhancing campus aesthetics and programs. She has also been actively creating commissioned art including murals, portraits, stage scenery, architectural renderings and fine art. Paula's work is often seen at local art exhibits and competitions where she has received numerous awards. She is a member of Joplin Regional Artist's Coalition and showing her newest piece, "Living Stone" at artCentral in Carthage this month. She also shows her work year round at the Local Color Art Gallery in Joplin.

The exhibit is part of the Chamber's ongoing art series, featuring a different local artist every month. of area artists. The Chamber wants to give exposure to our area's many talented artists.

EXHIBIT #2

An antique doll collection is on exhibit in Display Case #1 at Carl Junction City Hall, located inside of the Carl Junction Community Center. The exhibit is part of a private collection on loan form Katherine McMullen of Joplin, MO. The featured dolls range is age from the 1890's to 1958, and include such favorites Shirley Temple and Kewpie dolls. Accessories, a doll stroller and doll furniture round out the display.

EXHIBIT #3

An antique coffee can collection is on exhibit in Display Case #2 at the Carl Junction City Hall, located inside of the Carl Junction Community Center. The exhibit is part of a private collection on loan from Greg & Denise Steele of Carl Junction. The featured coffee cans range in age from the 1940's to 1964. All cans have never been opened. Items of interest include a can with a US quarter included (silver), and a can designed for WWII, to avoid contraband smuggling.
