Missouri Southern State University’s inaugural Academic Signing Ceremony at Joplin High School will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Eagle Talon Room (Room A-123 of the Performing Arts Center) at the school, 2104 Indiana Ave.
The event will honor JHS seniors who have been accepted into the Fall 2016 freshman class at Missouri Southern. To commemorate the occasion, each student will receive a special gift designed specifically to recognize such a momentous academic milestone, said Dr. Wendy McGrane, associate vice president for academic affairs.
“The purpose of the academic signing is to symbolically demonstrate our mutual commitment,” said McGrane. “Students are indicating their intent to attend Missouri Southern and to immerse themselves in our learning environment, in which we believe they will thrive.
“In turn, Missouri Southern is committing to these students that we will partner with them to achieve their educational dreams. We are truly excited to welcome these Joplin High School students to our Lion Pride.
