The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is developing a Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan for the Joplin Area. JATSO is the metropolitan planning organization for the region that includes southern Jasper County and northern Newton County. The study area covers approximately 200 square miles and includes 18 municipalities as well as unincorporated areas. The Plan will communicate the vision for the area’s bicycle and pedestrian network and identify recommendations to guide implementation.
Over 100 individuals attended the first public meeting at the Joplin Public Library in August 2017 to review existing conditions, build a vision, and identify challenges. The project team has been integrating the public input and technical analysis to develop a series of potential policies, programs, and projects. Now, the project team would like to invite you to a second public meeting to continue building the Plan.
The public is invited to attend Open House Public Meeting #2 on Thursday, November 16, to review the bicycle and pedestrian vision and help prioritize potential improvements. No formal presentation will be given and individuals are invited to stop by anytime from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Joplin Public Safety Training Facility, 5501 Dennis Weaver Boulevard, located to the south of the Joplin Regional Airport’s airfield on Highway 171.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the Plan with the project team and participate in prioritization activities.
5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017
