Detective's work in removing child from potentially abusive situation earns him JPD Officer of the Month honors

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On Friday March 16, 2018 Detective Wayne Buck was notified of a child with unsatisfactory living conditions. (most of the details have been removed to protect the identify of the child).

Detective Buck spent his entire day following up on the situation and communicating with several agencies to remedy the situation for the child. Detective Buck continued to advocate for this child and by the end of the day had built a strong case that supported removing the child from a potentially abusive situation.

Detective Buck’s expertise and dedication to this investigation was vital in ensuring the safety of this child. The child later sent flowers to Children’s Haven thanking their staff and the police department for helping him.

Thank you, Detective Buck, for your dedication to the children you service in our community. You are an asset to the community, agency, and fellow officers you serve.
