A diverse range of artwork created in different media will be the focus of “Works Unrelated,” a new show featuring three senior art majors set to open Monday, April 30, in Missouri Southern State University’s Spiva Art Gallery.
Ceramist Sarah Clark's work stems from her Honors thesis, entitled "The Art of Being Centered: Exploring Zen Buddhism in Ceramics." She attempts to create calming, peaceful ceramic forms based on principles of Zen to inspire mindful practices in viewers.
Danielle Davis is a graphic design student focusing on game theory and illustration. Her work is an original board game with whimsical artwork and a story based on a post-apocalyptic fantasy world.
Shelby Moe is a printmaking student whose work focuses on the issues of animal exploitation and rights. Through printmaking based installation, she hopes to create dialogue, questioning how we treat the non-human members of our society.
A reception will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 30, in the gallery. The show will run through Friday, May 4. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
