A Carthage man was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 2:54 p.m. Friday on eastbound I-44 at the 15 mile marker.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Honda Accord driven by William G. Crawford, 56, Carthage, traveled off the left side of the road and struck the median barrier.
Crawford fled the scene on foot, according to the report, and was located a short time later.
Crawford, who was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to drive within a single lane, failure to maintain financial responsibility and leaving the scene of an accident, refused treatment for minor injuries.
