Joplin man charged with felony driving while intoxicated following collision with tractor trailer near Granby

A Joplin man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated as a prior offender following a two-vehicle collision 7:05 a.m. today on U. S. 60, one mile west of Granby.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Chevrolet pickup driven by Ian P. Steere, 33, Joplin, crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer driven by Lisa G. Irwin, 62, Pierceville, Kansas.

Steere, who was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, was also cited for driving while revoked, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and for having no insurance.

In addition to the Highway Patrol, MODOT, the Neosho Area Fire Protection District, Granby Area Fire Protection District, Granby Police Department and Newton County Ambulance District responded to the accident.
