Bystanders save man from drowning in Big Sugar Creek

Bystanders saved a Marshall man from drowning 3:20 p.m. Saturday on Big Sugar Creek, three and a half miles northeast of Pineville.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a strong current swept away Jose D. Ramos Diaz, 41, Marshall, who nearly drowned before being rescued.

Diaz was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman Neosho.
