According to the Highway Patrol report, the 16-year-old boy fell asleep and lost control of the 2006 Pontiac G6 he was driving, which traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a telephone box.
The boy was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
