Two arrests made following shooting at 21st and Empire in Joplin, victim in serious condition

On June 11th, 2020 at approximately 10:55 pm officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to the area of 21st and Empire for a report of a disturbance involving gunshots.

Officers arrived and located one adult male with multiple gunshot wound injuries and began rendering aid. METS transported him to Freeman Hospital for further treatment and he is currently listed in serious but stable condition. 










Police have identified the shooter and are not actively seeking any other individuals related to this incident. Officers and detectives did recover multiple firearms on scene, including two stolen handguns. 

A separate individual involved in the incident was arrested on scene for stealing after being found to be in possession of one of the stolen firearm. There is no further threat to the community. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation and further details will be released once they become available.

  1. Thank you to our Joplin police officers for doing their best to keep our community safe. I greatly appreciate you as do many other citizens of this community. We as neighbors need to be vigilant and watch out for one another in order to keep crime down in Joplin. It seems as if it has gotten out of control. If you see crime happening report it.
