Joplin residents injured in tubing accident on Elk River

Three Joplin residents were injured in a tubing accident 3:10 p.m. Thursday on Elk River, north of Noel.

According to the Highway Patrol report, five people were on an inner tube and went over a five-foot dam and were in the water for approximately 15 minutes before a man threw a personal flotation device on a rope and pulled them to shore.







Jasmine Pierce, 20, D'Anna Bunn, 20, and Destiny E. Dark, 17, Joplin, were treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

The other two who were on the inner tube, Skylar M. Caruthers, 20, and Nathaniel Percy, 19, both of Joplin, were uninjured, according to the report.
