Five people injured in fiery crash on 43 north of Joplin

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 10:05 p.m. Saturday on MO 43, five miles north of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2021 Hyundai Sonata driven by Praveen Nerji, 28, Springfield, failed to yield to a 1978 Dodge W200 driven by Michael D. Theriault, 35, Liberal.








Both vehicles traveled off the roadway with the Nerji vehicle overturning and bursting into flames.

Nerji and a passenger, Teza Maguluri, 22, Springfield, were treated for serious injuries at Mercy Joplin.

Three other passengers in the Nerji vehicle, Gayatori Peddi, 21, Saketh Bellampally, 22, and Harshini Vinnakota, 24, all of Springfield, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
