Joplin Police Department reports increase in thefts of purses, wallets from shopping carts

(From the Joplin Police Department)

The Joplin Police Department has seen an increase in the number of wallet and purse thefts from shopping carts in recent weeks. The men and women of JPD want to remind everyone to keep a close eye on your personal valuables, such as purses, bags, wallets, phones, etc... as you are out and about.

Keep these items close to you and safeguarded. Do not get distracted. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. It takes only a matter of a second or two for a thief to make off with your property, but it leaves victims with days, weeks, or sometimes even years of hassle.

Don't be a victim this holiday season.

As always, if you see criminal activity like this taking place, please report it to your local law enforcement agency as soon as possible.
