Lane reductions, traffic delays expected on 59 during Noel sidewalk project

Route 59 Streambank Stabilization/Sidewalk Project in Noel Beginning Week of Jan. 3

Drivers should expect lane reductions and traffic delays on Missouri Route 59 in McDonald County when a project to stabilize the streambank and make sidewalk improvements along the Elk River begins the week of January 3, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will stabilize the streambank along the Elk River on Route 59 (Cliffside Drive) in Noel between the Elk River bridge and the Butler Creek bridge. In addition, crews will add sidewalks and improve pedestrian areas along that same stretch of highway.








Traffic Impacts

Expect lane reductions on Route 59 with traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals

One lane of Route 59 OPEN at all times

All lanes of Route 59 OPEN if construction pauses for longer than two (2) weeks

No signed detours

Drivers are urged to find alternate routes







Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Project Background:Prime contractor: West Plains Bridge & Grading LLC, West Plains
Contract completion date: November 1, 2024
Construction cost: $2 million
