Two Carthage teens were injured in a two-vehicle accident 9:18 p.m. Sunday on Palamino Road east of Carthage.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 12-year-old Carthage boy and a 2005 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 14-year-old Carthage boy were racing when the 12-year-old's vehicle crossed the center line and the rear of the vehicle struck the side of the 14-year-old's vehicle.
The 14-year-old's vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
The 14-year-old boy and a passenger in the 12-year-old's vehicle, a 14-year-old boy, were treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Joplin.
I live on Palomino and heard the crash. This is not the Mo-Kan Speedway out here. Although sometimes people drive like it is. Fortunately, no one was killed.
