Online meeting set on MoDOT plans to replace Route 96 Bridge over 171 west of Carthage

The public is invited to a virtual (online) public meeting starting Monday, October 2, to learn more about plans for replacing the Missouri Route 96 bridge over Missouri Route 171 west of Carthage, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The meeting will be available for two weeks from Monday, October 2, until Monday, October 16, and can be accessed at www.modot.org/southwest.








During 2024, the bridge will be replaced requiring Route 96 to be closed for up to six months. The new bridge will include new barrier walls, guardrails and permanent striping. Route 171 will remain open for the duration of the project except for brief intervals during construction.

For those unable to access the online meeting, they are encouraged to contact MoDOT’s Southwest District Office at 417.895.7600 and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.

The Missouri Route 96 bridge project’s estimated total cost is $4,244,000

Construction of the new bridge will take place in 2024.
