MSSU events scheduled for next week

Missouri Southern events: Week of Oct. 17
Joplin, MO – The Missouri Southern State University campus will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17-18, for fall break.
Classes will begin and offices will reopen as scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Activities planned next week include film screenings, a program on starting a small business and a Great Britain Semester program on the country’s origins.

“An Offer They Couldn’t Refuse: The Creation of Great Britain”: 9:30 a.m., Webster Hall’s Corley Auditorium. Dr. Paul Teverow will discuss the process for unification between England and Scotland.
“Starting a Small Business: The First Steps”: 1:30 p.m., Plaster Hall. Participants will have an opportunity to assess their business idea, discuss legal requirements, learn marketing strategies and more. Presented by the Small Business & Technology Development Center, the workshop is $29 per business. Details: 417-625-3128.
“Bad Moms”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theater in Billingsly Student Center. The movie is free and open to the campus community.
“Henry V”: 7 p.m., Plaster Hall’s Cornell Auditorium. The British Film Festival will continue with Kenneth Branagh’s 1989 film. Admission is free and open to the public.
Friday, Oct. 21
“Bad Moms”: 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theater.
