Medical issue causes accident that injures two Neosho residents

Two Neosho residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident 1:05 p.m. Sunday on Newton Road, four miles west of Sarcoxie.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Jerry L. Burns, 66, Neosho, driving a 2004 Chrysler Sebring was apparently having a medical issue and was weaving and traveling in excess of the posted speed limit. He ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the ground with its undercarriage, then hit a fence.

Burns was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. A passenger, Abbygayle E. Burns, 13, Neosho, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
