Jasper County Sheriff: It doesn't have to be an emergency; we want to hear from you

(From Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser)

Over the past several months I have been out making contact with residents within a targeted area of the county. One of the purposes of this is to let the community know that we are in your neighborhoods, and it is ok to contact us.

Let me explain what I mean by that. Most people have no problems, or hesitations, calling the Sheriff’s Office in times of emergency, but we want you to know it doesn’t have to be an emergency for you to contact us. We want to hear from you.

If you have a concern, or information, about criminal activity in your neighborhood, we want to know about it. The whole purpose of “Community Policing” is working together with the community. We can’t address the issue if we don’t know about it.

Over the past few months I have heard several residents tell me, “Well I just didn’t want to bother you guys on this”. I want to make sure everybody knows you are not bothering us. We truly do want to hear from you.

We get tips and information from citizens on a daily basis. We appreciate it each and every time someone in the community takes the time to give us information.

If you have information on any criminal activity in your neighborhood, or you think it is something we need to know about, please contact Det. Tim Williams, at 417-358-8177 ext. 1223., or at the TIPS hotline number, 417-358 TIPS. You can even send a message via Facebook Messenger if you wish. We routinely monitor our Facebook page.

Please make sure to leave your name and contact information if you leave a message. We keep the information we receive confidential when we make contact with people.

Get involved. Report crime.
