(From the Joplin Police Department)

On January 11, 2017 Capt. Bob Higginbotham retired from the Joplin Police Department after 16 years of combined service with the police department. We are sad to see him go and wish him well in his future endeavors.
With his retirement, comes several promotions within the police department.

Rusty Rives has been promoted to the rank of Captain and will take over as the PIO for our department. He will also oversee the Professional Standards Bureau which encompasses Training, Records, Crime Analysis and CALEA.

Clay Collard has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant and will serve as a shift supervisor in our Uniform Operations Bureau.

Jeff Wilson has been promoted to the rank of Corporal and will serve as a supervisor in the Uniform Operations Bureau.

“I am excited to announce these promotions and I am looking forward to working with each of these officers as they take the next step in their career with JPD. I am confident that they will all represent our agency and our community very well.”
