JPD traffic stop results in felony drug charges against woman

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

This morning at 2:34 a.m. an officer saw a vehicle driving eastbound on 15th Street at Connor. He recognized the vehicle as one he had tried to stop earlier in the evening but had to disregard due to a call he was dispatched to at the same time. The vehicle was stopped for the engine smoking heavily and other equipment violations. The driver drove for about a block before slowly stopping.

The female driver was shaking and sweating and a meth pipe was laying on the center console in plain view. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle but refused. She eventually complied and was arrested for driving while revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia. At the jail, it was discovered she had empty baggies and a bag of 5 grams of meth on her. Felony drug charges submitted.
