Our introduction Tuesday is Officer Lacey Baxter.
Officer Baxter has been with the Joplin Police Department for 11 years and is currently assigned to the Support Services Bureau as a Crime Prevention Officer. Her duties as a Crime Prevention Officer includes working with local businesses and multi-housing units to educate and help prevent crime.
Before joining JPD, Officer Baxter was a student at Missouri Southern State University where she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Baxter has served as a patrol officer, traffic officer, range officer, honor guard member, and currently coordinates our citizen’s police academy.
When asked what she wants the public to know about her job Officer Baxter replied
I would want the community to know that each officer works hard to engage this community. I coordinate several programs including the citizens police academy, safety messages for our elderly community, and business safety plans. We as an agency conduct these programs because we care about the community. “El-Mayarah” is a term that Officer Baxter uses often at work which means “stronger together”
Thank you, Officer Baxter, for sharing.
