Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization seeking comments on improvement program

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is seeking comments on the first amendment to its 2020-2023 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

The proposed amendment contains five new projects from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MODOT) Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

Three projects cover the work zone enforcement in construction projects. Two projects are for the operation and management of the Intelligent Transportation System in the Southwest District.

The TIP contains transportation and transit projects in the Joplin Metropolitan Area that are partially funded by Federal transportation programs over the next four-year period. The public comment period for the TIP amendments begins Friday, November 22 and extends to Friday, November 29. The proposed amendment can be view on the JATSO website at https://www.joplinmo.org/DocumentCenter/View/8377/TIP-amendment-1.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).
