Sarcoxie police's aid to stranded motorist includes arresting him on meth, weapons charges

(From the Sarcoxie Police Department)

On 11/18/2019, Officer Rice and Trainee Officer Akins assisted a broke down motorist at High and Branch.

Upon running Brian P. Blackburn, Wentworth, he came back with an active warrant out of our city. A search of Blackburn's person and a consent search of the vehicle was conducted. Marijuana paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.

Blackburn was asked if there was anything else on his person before reaching the jail. He stated there was not. The .270 caliber rifle that was loaded with four rounds, in the front seat, was taken for a safe keep until Blackburn could bond.

Once at the jail, jail staff found .5 grams of methamphetamine and 10 Clonazepam .5g (schedule 4 controlled substance) on Blackburn's person.

Due to the narcotics found, Blackburn was also charged with unlawful use of a firearm, on top of the two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

On 11/22/2019, Blackburn was picked by Chief Corum on a $10,000 cash or surety bond out of Jasper County for the above charges when he came to retrieve his firearm.

Blackburn is innocent until proven guilty by the courts.
