LaRussell man charged with assaulting law enforcement officer, mother also charged following domestic incident at Sarcoxie home

(From the Sarcoxie Police Department)

On December 18, 2019 at 1315 hours, Officer Akins, Cpl. Scheppert, and Chief Corum were dispatched to a domestic in progress in the Autumn Acres Mobile Home Park.

Upon Officer Akins arrival he made contact with the suspect's mother, Cynthia Lee, girlfriend Betty Plopper, the victim, and victim's mother. Our suspect, Seth E. Marks, 28, LaRussell, had taken off on foot. Plopper and Lee were uncooperative with the investigation. Our victim was seen by Sarcoxie City Fire for a laceration under the eye.

Cpl. Scheppert and Chief Corum with the assistance of a Jasper County Sheriff's Deputy were able to locate Marks at 5th and High.

Marks was detained and taken back to the scene. While talking to all the parties involved Marks became...unruly in the car. Officer Akins and Cpl. Scheppert attempted to talk him down, Marks proceeded to kick Cpl. Scheppert.

Lee was asked to leave the premise due to growing tension. She proceeded to make threats against the victim and family. She too, was taken into custody.

State charges were filed and brought against Marks for Assault 3rd and Assault 4th. Assault 4th charges were placed against Lee.

All parties are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law
