Carthage teen who caused head-on collision seriously injuring two, cited on DWI, assault, drug charges

The Carthage teen who caused a head-on collision injuring a Carl Junction woman and a Webb City teen, was charged with driving while intoxicated on drugs, according to the Highway Patrol report.

The crash occurred 3:47 p.m. Thursday on Fir Road at County Road 303, three miles west of Joplin. Anthony Dobias-Castillo, 17, driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima, crossed the center line and struck a 2018 Subaru driven by Jillean K. Murphy, 38, Carl Junction, head on.








Murphy and a passenger in Dobias-Castillo's vehicle, Joshua E. Boles, 18, Webb City, were taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries.

The Highway Patrol accident does not indicate any injuries for Dobias-Castillo.

In addition to driving while intoxicated (drugs), and two counts of assault, Dobias-Castillo was also charged with marijuana possession, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, no insurance, violating a driver's license restriction and for not wearing a seat belt.
