(From Southern News Service)

The newly named leader of the Joplin Police Department is the featured guest on the next edition of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV.

Chief Sloan Rowland has actually been with JPD for the past 16 years, but officially took over as chief last month, following the retirement of Matt Stewart. He sits down with Judy Stiles, host and KGCS general manager, to talk about his background and goals for the department.

The show will begin airing nightly at 5:30 p.m. the week of February 23. It will also air on Saturday, February 29 at 5:30 a.m. on KOAM-TV – and is currently posted on the station’s YouTube channel, “KGCS Missouri Southern.”

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21. It is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
