(From the Jasper County Commission)
Jasper County plans to utilize Federal BRO-Funding to replace a truss bridge located on Oak Road northeast of Carthage over Deer Creek.
The existing 64-foot-long single span bridge will be replaced with a new triple cell 14' span x 7' tall reinforced concrete box culvert.
In Compliance with Title VI and EO12898, the County is requesting public involvement and comment regarding concerns of potential impact to human environment.
In an effort to minimize these possible adverse effects to the public, Jasper County requests concerns by written letter be addressed to 302 South Main Street, Room 101, Carthage, MO 64836 and endorsed Oak Road Bridge Replacement. Submissions will be accepted through Monday, May 24, 2021.
The bridge and roadway will be closed for approximately 4 months during construction. Oak Road is a one mile long gravel road that will be closed at the bridge site during construction. The total detour length is 4 miles. The detour route will consist of 1.6 miles north on County Road 80, 1 mile east on Missouri N, and 1.6 miles south on County Road 70 of paved county and state highway road.
The project is needed to replace a structurally deficient bridge. The existing structure is a through truss design that provides for a maximum width of only 13 feet.

The bridge is located in an agricultural area. The replacement is needed to improve the width and load limit to allow farming equipment to cross the bridge. The newly constructed box culvert will be skewed with the creek to provide a more hydraulically efficient bridge opening than that of the existing bridge. Approximately 1200 linear feet of roadway will be reconstructed to accommodate the new bridge. Sincerely,
