(From the Carl Junction Police Department)We've had complaints about 4 wheelers in Country Club Estates. We get calls from other areas of town occasionally.
Just to issue a reminder, 4 wheelers are not legal vehicles to be operated on roadways.
When you obtain an off road vehicle for your child, you can sometimes create an issue. They have to be operated off road and it will necessitate you taking them somewhere to ride, not using City streets or parks.
No officer wants to penalize a child for making this mistake, When found we will follow them home and talk to the parents. If it is a rider over the age of 16 we will be writing a citation. We get calls from your neighbors and they will remain anonymous.
Please don't put our officers in this position.
I made this post to try an get the problem taken care of at home, before we get involved.
Golf carts are allowed by State Law at the direction of the council. That is the only unlicensed vehicle allowed and it has restrictions, legal driver with proof of insurance. UTV’s are not allowed without being licensed. 4 wheelers are not allowed at all.
